Today something great happened on 3rdworldblogger. Two great bloggers I admire (one female and one male - one knows and one doesn’t) touched my blog. John Chow dot com was the first blog I read and he peaked my desire to start mine. Though he is criticised a lot for his extremeties, I can’t deny his prowess. So when he offered to advertise  on my blog - it was fulfilling plus my traffic went up by 100%Big Grin.

Evil Woobie - Blogs from the philipines with spectacular authority. I know not anyone online that could be more friendly and bother to start an interraction than her. Her tips and advice have been of immense help to my blogging passion. Her site has a lot of relevant info for any blogger interested in growth. I don’t know how she does it but she gets new info on the blogosphere very early! Today she tagged me with this Entrecard Meme which am passing on to you in the spirit of friendship - you are part of my FIVE. (I keep telling her “Woobie, you’re going to make a PROBLOGGER out of me soon”).

Simple Entrecard Meme Instructions

  1. Read these instructions twice;

  2. Drop your EntreCard at this site;

  3. Drop your EntreCard at the 5 EntreCard users’ sites listed below;

  4. Choose 5 other EntreCard users;

  5. Copy these instructions to your own Entrecard meme article and tag (link) those 5 people;

  6. Include a link to the Entrecard meme article of the person who tagged you;

  7. Link to the original article “Sam Freedom’s Drop Squad - the First Entrecard Meme Known to Bloggers;

  8. Notify the people you choose that they’ve been tagged;

  9. Comment below so even passers-by can drop their card at your site, too (it shows you are active and will likely return the favor)

  10. (optional) IF you tag your blogs, use both “entrecard” and “entrecard meme” as tags so that others can find them AND so that we can find them all later as this grows. (If you don’t know what tagging is, don’t worry.)

Tagging the following Entrecard users to do this meme… click and find out who they are!!!

Breezie is a passionate blogger with heart. I don’t think I’ve seen any blog with as large a collection of link love sites and traffic exchange info. I’d call Breezies style ‘highly essential information for bloggers’. Check it out.

WebAde - On this one I beat woobie. I found this new site through WebAde. It’s called  Aductions and has an interesting concept enabling bloggers to cancel out the middle man in selling their adspaces. The highly explicit and interractive platform grants you total control of your adspace selling campaign. I noticed some big names blogggers were already taking position there… well what are you waiting for?

Joe Tech I met on Mybloglog sometime back and I’ve always found his blog to be incredibly laid out with a lovely theme. His writing of course is quite unique, neatly articulated and highly informative. What I think might interest you most right now is he’s offering 1000ec or 4 ad spaces on John Chow’s home page. Is that incredible or what?

Xicom I came across today thanks to Entrecard once more and was impressed about his progress and style. His blog is barely 2 weeks old but boasting impressive traffic. No surprise though when you visit read his content - captivating but most of all HONEST. I was quite moved by his first link love post. It sounded so humble. Highly worth a read.

Bruce Hopkins blogs the No nonsense Internet Tips blog. He’s a stylish blogger worth a read. A lot of info with a tint of his own flava. He is offering 1000 Entrecard credits in his Blog Contest that I find quite interesting really. Its supposed to be his first contest people aimed at improving his Technorati ranking so why don’t you stop by and give him a go.

I hope you enjoyed this post and it wasn’t too long. What’s your take on Memes? Would you like to be in my next meme?

There I was going about my blogging chore of resuscitation when in drops EvilWoobie with a comment on my last post plus a tip on why I might need to replace BlogRush with Entrecard. Entrecard?

What is Entrecard?

That’s what I asked myself. But since Woobie normally gives me good tips, I had no doubt this would be a good one too and I was absolutely right. So off I rushed to the website to find out for myself and wow! nice pitch…

The concept of Entrecard is a new form of internet businesscard that also doubles as an advert card. Neat concept enables you to place them on sites you visit that are registerd with Entrecard and get credits in your account which you can as well use to advertise your own card on other sites. Also when other users visit your site and place their cards in your box, you earn AGAIN. The traffic conversion is amazing. Another plus is that if affords you the ability to find blogs with great content that you otherwise would never have found.

Hit the site now and gain time. When you’ve registered, don’t forget to come back here and drop your card so I can check you out too.

Bottom Line

Entrecard is a worthwile FREE investment that would generate ADDITIONAL TRAFFIC to your site. Don’t miss the oportunity.

She said she writes poetry
I said nice
She said she loved my floe-try
I said likewise
My Chronicles of a Million Eyes she admired
I said why?
“Cause I tried to write the lure of my brown eyes
And it turned out not right”

I wondered why…
Why would a writer’s pen stop drooling the right words pouring from the talented mind
I imagined her scribbling
And feeling every piece expressed was a bunch of gibberish starring hard into the all seeing eye
I thought for a second
Could they be like The Cynical Eyes of Mildred hmm…I doubt if that could be right
Then I saw why…
When she sent me a photo with a burst of her face to give it a try…

Hypnotized…
Now I am a believer…

Eyes wide shut
A term I like so much
for its deep vibes perceived to mean your eyes are open
But you seem to see not
The impression I got in this revelation of sorts
Beautiful eyes exquisitely captured by the camera’s shot
So crystal clear and pristine you are blinded by the glare
For once  I see eyes … that outshine a perfect smile

emmanuelleelie2.jpg

These are Emmanuelle Elie’s Eyes
Look into them and tell me I lie
Tell me I exaggerate with words…
You don’t feel the search inside
Tell me you don’t drown so easily
in their dark pools with long black lashes,dark as night
Words defy me, but deep down inside I know there’s a reason why…
Inundate me, recreate me-inadequate vocabulary as I stare into the lure of her deep brown eyes

Emmanuelle Elie, I agree…
Your eyes defy and make the writers pen shy!

Is it love of lust?

I’d call it Lust cause love is deeper than the superficial drive for linkbacks we need and seek with zeal. In my stumblings across the www, I’ve come to see several names attributed to offers for linkbacks. From direct requests from the likes of Makoy which I found fascinating, would probably try myself and of course joined to the more subtle style of webd360 which I joined again with NO REGRETSBaka Konenko was my first experience with the Top Commentator Plugin. I’ve seen a couple of names on the blogroll, I hope I get there sometime. The linkback just came in naturaly plus both of them brought me my first reactions on Technorati.

Green Fever

Being a newbie blogger has a lot of frustrating moments am sure most of us experienced. Imagine your first 20 post without a comment or having to beg your family and friends to take a look at your genius and please leave a comment. In searching for a solution, I got my first link love linkback and it wasn’t lust, which came in the form of freeectasy. I was taken aback cause I was still green and new to ectasy. Fortunately the addiction was not detrimental to my state of being, my blog was picked up by Alexa and a rank awarded. MEMEs which I thought was a french word, I first encountered in Bola’s beautifully designed blog.

In decision…

Before I decided to place an announcement for 1 comment for 2 links on my front page I had been pondering how to drive traffic to my blog and leave comments when they do come. I got BlogRush installed and traffic started trickling in. Then I came across Mybloglog and things took a different turn I stumbled upon my two friends Jamaipanese and Jamaicandawta, bless their soul,  who would leave a comment on your blog once you’ve done same in theirs. If you love witty posts with a Jamaican flair (da beautiful lang), don’t hesitate to stop by cause you’d be rewarded in kind. Refinedone drew a tear to my eye on her post about motherhood, I can’t lie. If you’ve got a mom (don’t we all?), you’d probably want to give it a read and please don’t laugh at my comments there, I’ve said my piece. Next came Oladapo MD (does MD stand for a doctor or what?). He was quite honest at his lack of understanding of poetry - I liked that and his site is a blast.  Omodudu whose blog I found through my subscription to google blog alerts is a cute faced Nigerian guy with a fiery blog. Looking at his profile, you’d think he couldn’t hurt a fly, brotherman, he spits venom when civil rights and bad governance are on fire.

Link Love Growth…

link bridge

Linklove.net simply tells you “if you want to become blog of the weekend, then just add the html code sent to you in your email”. But while I was pondering what where or how, woobie the gamerchick simply prescribed “let your blog evolve into something that reflects your personality”. Deep! if you ask me. I write poetry in rhythmic burst, stories but not for blogs and been said to be motivational in advice. So I tried to apply it here on my blog. Rawdawgbufalo has a style of expression I find unique. He like I, never believed in perfection stating “such if exist only exist for a moment.” Jason came in last with his Xaphid (what is that?). Right before the idea came to me to offer 2 free links for 1 comment on my front page. But before I could make the announcement, Balidream left me a comment that touched my whole. He agreed totally with my idea that perfection is not required to be a blogger. LaurGrob told me to just ”stay real and be yourself…no one wants to read something fake and overly produced…” How apt! Michael  summed that with”If my blog isn’t perfect, then so be it. I’m just having fun writing what I feel like and building a network of friends and contacts in the process.” The moral of the story is my long search for interaction on my blog had commenced and I didn’t even know it. I was no longer looking for friends to leave comments.

The “2 free links for 1 comment on my front page” offer

I made the announcement. No longer green, maybe a little brown but discovering my voice all the same. I’d barely finished posting when first in line from my ad on mybloglog, was Doug McCaughan who simply said it was a “good deal indeed!”. Sparx came in through BlogRush and apparently didnt visit the front page so I asked him if the offer wasn’t enticing enough. In response he informed me of his liking of my Chronicles of a Million Eyes Project. Eric was 3rd and simply said “Nice linkbait m8…” and offered a “pagerank2 linkback” from his blog in return for my comment. Hey, I took it for sure. Are you still here? Good let me finish my story. The million dollar blog won my heart. His style is so easy I was wondering if one could get two links in Laughing Out Loud.

The Top Commentator Plugin

This was the advice I got from Debo Hobo. Apparently had that installed on the blog rewarding top commentators monthly. I made a note to look into that. Merlyndia  who left me spellbound at her beauty on her blog, left a comment on Sussie Eyes signing of with peace, love and blessings which I found touching.Michael of Parosparadise came next telling me I’d put together a great blog and he’d surely be back. He has some lovely pics there by the way. I think you should check it out. Note that from announcement till now we were still in Day 1. The comments were coming in … Rounding off the day was Lyn with comments on Sussie’ Eyes once more. She thought “it’s bittersweet and rings of knowledge and wisdom, and it does apply to many…” I couldn’t agree more. Summary of the day for those who want to know….From my monthly average of 8 to 10 visitor per day, I’d racked up 55 visitors in one day. Not bad for a newbie huh?

Day 2 to End

The next day I learnt an important truth about the online community. Hot news today is stale news tomorrow. My visits for day 2 dropped to 23 with only one comment coming in from Wil with an enthusiatic “Hell yeah! I’m gonna bookmark your site right now. And don’t forget to show me some love with those 2 links”. The Nigerian Student was all I got on day 3 and he seem glad he came in right on time, though he acknowledged not knowing anything about poetry but I guess he’s an expert on scholarships. Yesterday was Day 4, the last day of the offer. Joe of Linkbaitme left me a rather long comment that lifted up my spirit. He’s offering $200 if you join his community on mybloglog by the way. Have you joined? I haveLaughing Out Loud . Then Jim rounded off the offer with his comment stating that my blog was so well written and worth reading. Did I mention he offered me a pint if Iever found myself in Dublin. Fascinating. Guess I’d be taking him up on his offer pretty soon.

News Flash!

Just as I was about to hit the publish button, Emmanuelle dropped a comment on Susie’s Eyes. Since the offer closed yesterday, I decided to grace her with this link. Her site is pretty nice, I love the hues of blue, really cool design.

The Sum Up

In summary, I ran a FREE Advert on mybloglog offering 2 free links for 1 comment lasting four days (Didn’t really want to get too many now did I?). I got a total of about 113 visitors and 12 comments. In my view, I think I did well for starters. I definetely learnt alot and found some new blogs worth visiting regularly.  I guess my next offer would be more rewarding to me and my visitors as I get more vested in this blogging business. I sincerely hope I haven’t kept you bored with my ramblings (this is by far my longest post ever and you wouldn’t be reading this if you were bored of course). Hopefully you’ve also learnt something too. If you didn’t get to have a free link this time not to worry, just keep visiting, another surprise is on its way.

Thanks for sparing your time and please let me know what you think…(There just might be a reward). Linkbacks, trackbacks or whatever would be appreciated.
