John Chow on 3rdworldblogger - and Entrecard Meme
Dec 20th, 2007 by Felix Alaita
Today something great happened on 3rdworldblogger. Two great bloggers I admire (one female and one male - one knows and one doesn’t) touched my blog. John Chow dot com was the first blog I read and he peaked my desire to start mine. Though he is criticised a lot for his extremeties, I can’t deny his prowess. So when he offered to advertise on my blog - it was fulfilling plus my traffic went up by 100%
.
Evil Woobie - Blogs from the philipines with spectacular authority. I know not anyone online that could be more friendly and bother to start an interraction than her. Her tips and advice have been of immense help to my blogging passion. Her site has a lot of relevant info for any blogger interested in growth. I don’t know how she does it but she gets new info on the blogosphere very early! Today she tagged me with this Entrecard Meme which am passing on to you in the spirit of friendship - you are part of my FIVE. (I keep telling her “Woobie, you’re going to make a PROBLOGGER out of me soon”).

Breezie is a passionate blogger with heart. I don’t think I’ve seen any blog with as large a collection of link love sites and traffic exchange info. I’d call Breezies style ‘highly essential information for bloggers’. Check it out.

WebAde - On this one I beat woobie. I found this new site through WebAde. It’s called Aductions and has an interesting concept enabling bloggers to cancel out the middle man in selling their adspaces. The highly explicit and interractive platform grants you total control of your adspace selling campaign. I noticed some big names blogggers were already taking position there… well what are you waiting for?

Joe Tech I met on Mybloglog sometime back and I’ve always found his blog to be incredibly laid out with a lovely theme. His writing of course is quite unique, neatly articulated and highly informative. What I think might interest you most right now is he’s offering 1000ec or 4 ad spaces on John Chow’s home page. Is that incredible or what?

Xicom I came across today thanks to Entrecard once more and was impressed about his progress and style. His blog is barely 2 weeks old but boasting impressive traffic. No surprise though when you visit read his content - captivating but most of all HONEST. I was quite moved by his first link love post. It sounded so humble. Highly worth a read.

Bruce Hopkins blogs the No nonsense Internet Tips blog. He’s a stylish blogger worth a read. A lot of info with a tint of his own flava. He is offering 1000 Entrecard credits in his Blog Contest that I find quite interesting really. Its supposed to be his first contest people aimed at improving his Technorati ranking so why don’t you stop by and give him a go.
I hope you enjoyed this post and it wasn’t too long. What’s your take on Memes? Would you like to be in my next meme?

EntreCard is a great way to gain traffic. Have you checked your bounce rate? The majority of bloggers I have stopped on are reporting that their bounce rate is through the roof.
Perhaps on of the rules in your meme should be that you have to make a comment on the blogs you drop your card at as well.
Whelp! That’s just my two cents. Good luck and congratulations on your success.
Howdy, just wanted to say hello and nice job! With your ambition and sincerity, you’ll make it in no time.
@Debo Hebo - I had originally had one of the steps be to add a comment to the blog or to take some action at the tagged peoples blogs but the truth is that people really do have enough trouble understanding rules as it is so the less rules the better.
Plus, it never really works out to force comments.
Sam
Hey Felix thanks for the love! We have just finished revamping our platform user interface which ultimately has led to a faster and more pleasant user experience. Feel free to check it out at your leisure.
Don’t you find it assinine that John Chow stops by your blog where you clearly said something about him, yet he doesn’t bother to leave a comment. You linked to his blog, but he couldn’t be bothered to say thanks. It is complete and utter rudeness like that that turns me off of his blog. Oh I’ll show up there now and then, but not as much as I used to. I just think these so called “mega-star bloggers” should practice what they preach and the is the simple act of reciprocation. Bloggers comment and link to their blogs all day everyday and they are hard press to turn around and do the same.
What are y’alls thought on that?
hi felix, you could try feedburner.com, that’s what I use. There’s an option there to “troubleshoot feed”
Debo,
Regarding comments as you can see, Sam is the originator of the meme and he already thought about it and felt it wasn’t a good idea.
On John Chow’s refusal to say anything each time he stops by, I find it quite amusing actually, cause when I first started I read a large percentage of his post to get a feel. I quite remember these posts: http://www.johnchow.com/six-top-linking-strategies/
Thanks for your comments always Debo.
Linking Strategy #2: Visit Your Fellow Blogs
Linking Strategy #3: Give And You Shall Receive
And then there’s
http://www.johnchow.com/evil-ways-to-increase-blog-comments/
Which I’ve tried not to do!
It never occurred to me that he would preach what he won’t practice. Kind of reminds one of Sports supper stars who refuse to give autographs, and then they break a leg or something and start wondering why no one say hello anymore.
Sam thanks for stopping by and your clarification on the meme.
Ade I will definitely check it out. I see your vision, and it’s a pretty sight. I wish you all the best in your development.
Dear Woobie, I did the troubleshootize thing and got more mixed up. I think I need to read up on it. Thanks all the same.
I am impressed and excited about all the concentrated information on this blog. Thanks so much!
