How to Attain Perfection in Blogging
Oct 16th, 2007 by Felix Alaita
Do you want a perfect blog? Don’t we all search for that?
But is there such a thing?
In my sourjourn in the past one month, I searched for this highly elusive situation. I tried finding ways to start my make money online post with a bang, with the right Wordpress theme, widget and plugin in place. I even tried getting some form of steady flow of traffic first before moving on to monetizing the blog, and where did that lead me to? STAGNATION. (you don’t want that - it’s a precursor to QUITTING) Then it hit me! I was trying too hard to attain perfection. Consequently, I was loosing time, steam and even the little traffic that came by occassionally. I was loosing sight of what was most important to the whole blog experience. My audience, my views and some form of consistency.
Starting a blog post with a bang
This can come later as well as adverts or monetizing. I know John Chow says you should start off the blog with all the elements in place including your adverts so you audience gets used to it, but then, I don’t think its a sin to change your theme somewhere down the road either. Truth is, there is no sin in imperfection. Don’t get me wrong, if you have the uncanny ability to have everything in place first, good for you. But if you are part of us the imperfect world, then you can pay attention. The population of the world is estimated at about 7 Billion and counting! Picture that! There will always be those who would be seeing your blog for the first time. For them, your past imperfections wouldn’t count, nor your past plugins, widgets or themes.
My advice?
Just hit your keyboard running and start belting out all that content you have stored up inside and keep striving for perfection if you want, as you go along. Hey? By the way, this is just my view. Feel free to let me know yours. Thanks for stopping by.

Let your blog evolve into something that reflects your personality. Sooner or later, as you gain momentum, you will be able to write about stuff that you really love, regardless if it bring traffic or not. Let your passion drive you.

Great website and words of wisdom!
Hi,
Very nice article, and I am surely agree with the idea that not one in this blogging world will be make big bucks instantly, if so there must be something not ‘really’ correct and in the final day it could be a problem…so I just flowing and follow my institution and happy with the end result…
as a newbie and blogging from 3rd world country, I am quiet happy that so far got +/- $50 on my pay pall for non-sweating work
Have a great week end..
I just started blogging a few weeks ago. The biggest thing that has been stressed to me in the blogging community is to stay real and be yourself…no one wants to read something fake and overly produced. People are always interesting…I am hoping I find others who think I am!
I am definitely making this stuff up as I go along. If my blog isn’t perfect, then so be it. I’m just having fun writing what I feel like and building a network of friends and contacts in the process.
I think the most important part is to be passionate about what your blog is about. Without passion for your topic, your blog will likely become stale and uninteresting to not only the readers, but you as well. One thing that I’ve heard over and over again is that you should pick a niche topic and then try to become an expert in that field. Because I have 2 blogs, this keeps me doubly busy. When I’m not reading up on SEO and link baiting and practicing methods, I’m looking for new and interesting technology news and experiments for JoeTech.com. It’s a lot of work, but I’m also passionate about both. Both topics interest me very much, so that work is also exciting to me and keeps me going. Of course, I’m always going for more traffic too, because I like to think that people are reading (and enjoying) all my hard work.
You’re right. A few months ago, I felt like my blog was too “stuffy.” But now, my blog isn’t about just one topic, in fact, I now have several categories; so really, I can write about whatever happens to come to mind, and I find that since I started doing that, I am getting more traffic, and most of it is from search engines! Which makes me ecstatic, because that is what I strive for.
Of course, I also do a few sponsored posts per week, but I try to blog three or four times in between about other stuff so it doesn’t become bogged down with advertising. I consider my sponsored posts to be something like “commercial breaks” LOL. However, I try very hard to personalize those sponsored posts, so they don’t look like they are sponsored; therefore, I only take on sponsors that appeal to ME. Otherwise, I feel it would be cheating.
I don’t have the traffic I’d like to have yet, but every month it gets better and better.
I enjoyed reading your posts, (the ones I’ve read so far), and I will return regularly to see what you’re up to. Meanwhile, I think I’ll put you in my blogroll and perhaps you’ll get some hits from there.
Happy blogging!
Kelly
Thanks for the Aductions “sign up love”!! I ran across your blog while reading Steven Finch’s Crenk blog. Good stuff i must say..
I agree 100%. If you are not pasionate you can see it in the writing. I also think that checking out others blogs is important. Why expect someone to stop by yours - if you are not willing to take the time to check out others. I just switched computers so I have to redo my RSS. You have lots of good information. Thanks for stopping by my blog.

I agree with hittin’ the keyboarding running! That’s what I did last November. I know my site looked terrible when I first started. But, now I’ve switched to WordPress and am working on making it look better. Thanks for the post.
