In Mildred’s eyes I saw beauty
Beauty with a touch of fiery cynicism
Dissecting passers by as though it was her duty
Silent tongue lashing, no one is spared her criticism
I searched in fleeting glances for her inner softness
Severely shielded by her rambunctious confidence
Grounded or founded in her apparent intelligence
